Little Peconic Bay Swim

On the early morning of August 20th, 2020 the Dawgpatch Bandits Amphibious Division took on and conquered the length of Little Peconic Bay (6 mi) in just 3.5 hours. Pitching from Robins Island on the western edge of Little Peconic Bay swimmers Skyler Losech, Spencer Schneider, Nicholas McMahon and Drew Harvey made a swyft, silent, and stealth swim crossing to Jessup’s Neck, a beautifully preserved piece of land that marks Little Peconic’s eastern end. The Bandits left the dock at Sag Harbor’s Ship Ashore Marina by boat at 4:00 a.m., and splashed in at Robins at 4:30 a.m. for a “sealio” start. One of the Bandits recounted that “the first half of the swim was done under complete cover of darkness with only the stars shedding light on the other swimmers.” When the swimmers came around “Little Hog Neck” the sun could be seen rising over Jessup’s Neck to the east. From there it was long and loose to the finish.
