New Wellness Deck at Stongpoint Theinert Ranch

In February of 2024 Dawgpatch Bandits headed back out to Stongpoint Theinert Ranch (STR) in New Mexico to construct a 1,536 sq/ft ‘Wellness Deck.’ Originally designed by Dawgpatch Architect-Dave Harvey on a hotel napkin in 2022 after completing work on the ranch’s outdoor fitness area project, the construction of the deck plan came to life just 2 years later.

Strongpoint Theinert Ranch is an amazing retreat facility for veterans struggling with mental health that, like Dawgpatch Bandits Inc. promotes outdoor recreation as a powerful healing tool. So, after our first visit to The Barracks in 2022 the plan was hatched by Jimbo Theinert (STR Founder) to expand, and create a finished outdoor space that could be used for programming, reflection, yoga etc. And now the vision has to come to fruition!!

“Through the efforts of more than 30 volunteers and help from our friends at Dawgpatch Bandits we were able to construct a 1,536 sq/ft wellness deck off the west side of The Barracks. This was by far our largest service project to date and the added outdoor space provides user friendly access to the outdoors while spending time around the house. The deck has already been used for yoga, group therapy sessions, cornhole tournaments, and start gazing. This new space also provides incredible sunset views over the mountains and plains of New Mexico.” - STR TEAM
