Jessups Neck to Bay Point: SWIM

WEST to EAST

Five swimmers took on and completed a swim across Noyac Bay from the Northeast point of Jessups Neck to the long beach side of Bay Point on Tuesday, September 6th. Beginning the swim at 7:30 AM with grey day conditions, light rains and a head wind blowing out of the Southeast, swimmers were led by a support boat captained by Dave Harvey, and crewed by spotter Jennifer Ferry. Battling a consistent chop until the last half mile, the swim covered 3 miles across the mid section of Noyac Bay, and took just over 2 hours to complete.

The swim route was conceived by Bay Point resident Sean Crowley, the chief lifeguard of Southampton Town’s East Beaches, who also frequents the Bandits’ Tuesday morning open swims.

Swimmers included Jeremy Grosvenor, Taylor Diepold, Mike Mata, Nick Stevens and Drew Harvey. For both Diepold and Mata it was their first point to point Dawgpatch Challenge swim, and for Mata, his first and longest open water swim crossing.
