Fort Pond Bay Swim

On 07/06/2023 the Fort Pond Bay Swim was completed by swimmers Drew Harvey, Caite Kappel, Spencer Schneider, and Taylor Diepold. This 1.5 mile swim crossed the opening of Fort Pond Bay from Rocky Point to Culloden Point in Montauk, NY. This swim is the first successfully completed swim of the 2023 Point to Point Challenge season.

Swimmers were guided by a Dawgpatch Boat captained by Dave Harvey accompanied by spotter Jennifer Ferry. While this was one of the shorter Dawgpatch swims to take place it bears significance. Fort Pond Bay is a deep water bay teaming with sea life that opens directly into the Block Island Sound. On the morning of this sunrise swim, a line of commercial fishing boats sat just north of the line swam and many a fish were seen jumping in the glassy water.

Swim Start: 5:45 AM

For anyone thinking of taking on this swim keep the pace high, the group close, and the guide boat to your outside.
