The Cilli Farm Project

One of Dawgpatch Bandits current endeavors is to steward the previously preserved Cilli Farm Park for Sag Harbor and the entire east end community.

WHAT IS CILLI FARM PARK?

In July of 2000 a nine acre property known as Cilli Farm, located in Sag Harbor Village, was jointly acquired by Suffolk County, Town of Southampton, and the Village of Sag Harbor. The property is located in the heart of Sag Harbor Village sitting between Long Island Avenue, West Water Street, and Glover Street. If you have been around long enough, you once knew Cilli Farm as the “Dairy Farm” in town, with grazing cows and a big old bull. Now the property sits overgrown, full of debris and fallow.

Back in 2000, the property was specifically purchased for use as a park, and to preserve open space in the development of Sag Harbor.

Excerpt from: RESOLUTION NO. 89 - 2000, AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF LAND IN THE SUFFOLK COUNTY LAND PRESERVATION PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM (CP7174) (TOWN OF SOUTHAMPTON PARKLANDS, CILLI FARM)

“RESOLVED, in that this acquisition shall be dedicated, used and managed as if it were acquired under the Parklands Program, it is subject to the provisions of Resolution No. 762-1986 establishing and outlining the role of the Board of Trustees of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation in connection with Parklands acquisitions;
