Shinnecock Shoreline Challenge

Shinnecock Inlet to Montauk Point

August 26, 2019

Dave Harvey, Tyler Murphy and Drew Harvey take on the first attempt of the Shinnecock Shoreline Challenge, a straight line shot of Long Island’s shoreline from Shinnecock Inlet to Montauk Point Lighthouse covering just under 40 miles. When it comes to this Dawgpatch event the rules are simple: 1) You must stay along the shore (beach or water); 2) You can only run, swim, bike or paddle; 3) It is an West to East challenge and there is no rain date. Departing at sunrise the 3 challengers had a honking head wind and rough seas. While each persons attack plan was different, the outcome was the same….a brutal day. The challenge took nearly 10 hours to complete.
